Personal loan eligibility criteria
Rinn, the personal loan app from Rinncrest, is open to anyone who meets these conditions, however you earn: a salary, your own practice or shop, freelance work or gig payouts. First-time borrowers are welcome too. Here's what you need, in plain words.
- How you earn: salaried, self-employed, freelance, gig or business income all count
- Age: 18 to 55 on the date you apply
- Residency: an Indian resident, applying from India
- Credit history: not required. A credit-bureau check runs only with your consent
- KYC: a valid PAN and an Aadhaar for e-KYC
- Bank account: a savings account in your own name
- Phone: an Android phone, as Rinn is on Google Play only
Our lending partner, an RBI-regulated NBFC or bank, offers loans of ₹10,000 to ₹2,00,000 over 3 to 24 months. It decides whether to lend to you and how much. Interest starts from 16% p.a.; your own rate is set after the lender assesses your application. Rinncrest runs the app and does not lend.
Eligibility by how you earn

First loan / New to credit? You're welcome here
You've got an income and a bank account, but no loan or credit card yet. Plenty of lenders treat that as a reason to say no. On Rinn, having no credit history doesn't automatically rule you out.
With your explicit consent, the lender may check your credit history and assess your income, KYC, and requested loan amount and tenure. You may be offered a smaller amount based on eligibility.
Our tip: Start small and repay on time to begin building your credit history.
How much can you borrow on your income?
There's no single formula. The lender looks at your income, the EMIs you already pay and your credit profile. What you can do is pick an EMI that sits comfortably alongside your rent, groceries and other bills, not just in a good month.
Here's an illustration at the 16% p.a. starting rate, on a reducing balance:
- ₹50,000 over 12 months: EMI ₹4,537
- ₹1,00,000 over 24 months: EMI ₹4,896
- ₹2,00,000 over 24 months: EMI ₹9,793
On ₹30,000 a month of take-home income with no other EMIs, a ₹4,896 EMI takes about a sixth of it; a ₹9,793 EMI takes about a third. If your income changes from month to month, run the same sum on a slow month. This is an illustration only. Your amount, rate and EMI are set by the lender and shown in your Key Fact Statement before you accept.

Before you apply: when Rinn can't help yet
We'd rather tell you now than waste your time. Rinn can't help yet if:
-
You need less than ₹10,000 or more than ₹2,00,000.
-
You need a business loan.
Rinn offers personal loans only, in your own name and repaid from your income.
-
You're looking to repay other loans.
Borrowing to repay borrowing usually makes things harder. If existing EMIs are a struggle, talk to your current lender first.
Frequently asked questions
What CIBIL score do I need?
There's no single published cut-off; the lender assesses your credit profile as a whole. A credit-bureau enquiry is made only with your separate, explicit consent. If you don't have a score yet, the enquiry is still made and simply returns little or nothing, which is expected.
Can I get a personal loan with no credit history?
You can apply on Rinn if you meet the eligibility criteria; no credit history doesn't automatically rule you out. The lender assesses every application, so approval isn't automatic.
Does a first loan improve my credit score?
It creates your credit history. Paying every EMI on time builds a positive record; late or missed EMIs are reported too and lower your score.
Can I apply if I've just started a new job or I'm on probation?
Yes, if you meet the other criteria. The lender considers your application as a whole and may ask for proof of your current salary, such as a salary slip or a bank statement showing your salary credit. Pending confirmation: minimum employment duration, if the lender applies one.
Can I get a loan without a salary slip?
Yes. A salary slip is one way to show your income, not the only one, and the app tells you exactly what the lender needs. Pending confirmation: accepted alternatives to a salary slip. Personal loan without a salary slip →
Is this a salary advance?
No. It's a personal loan repaid in equal monthly instalments over 3 to 24 months, not a one-time deduction from your next salary.
Will my employer be told about my loan?
Rinn doesn't contact your employer as part of the application. Pending confirmation: employer-contact policy, including during recovery.
How much can I borrow?
Anything from ₹10,000 to ₹2,00,000 can be requested. The amount offered depends on the lender's view of what your income can comfortably support alongside your existing commitments, and it may offer a first-time borrower a lower amount to start with.
Can self-employed people apply?
Yes. Self-employed people, professionals, shop owners, freelancers and gig workers can apply if they meet the other criteria. The lender decides which income proof it needs. Personal loan for self-employed people →
Can women or homemakers apply?
Yes, on the same terms as anyone else.
Does checking my eligibility affect my credit score?
Checking your eligibility on our website doesn't involve a credit-bureau enquiry. A bureau enquiry happens only during a full application in Rinn, and only after you give separate consent.
Does applying cost anything?
No. Applying is free and no fee is ever collected before disbursal. Any applicable charges, such as a processing fee, are shown in your Key Fact Statement before you accept.
